There are two significant changes
From the 1st July equipment used to test RPZ valves must conform with a new minimum specification
RPZ testers must now periodically revalidate their qualification
If you are an RPZ tester you need to:
Ensure your test gauge is compliant before the July deadline
Provide your scheme, if you belong to one, with details of any new test equipment. They should also be able to assist with any questions.
If you are recognised on a localised basis talk to your water undertaker, they are likely to suggest you join a scheme

If you are responsible for RPZ valves you need to:
Confirm before the deadline the RPZ tester you use has the right equipment and can test your valve(s) – there are different types.
Before the end of 2026 RPZ testers will have to renew their qualification for your test certification to be accepted.
If you want to make sure your tester’s qualifications are up to date, use the RPZ valve tester search on the WaterSafe website. This only list those with valid qualifications and until July will identify if they haven’t confirmed their equipment is compliant.
